The 2008 ENHR Conference was held in Dublin
from 6th- 9th July 2008 and was organised by
University College Dublin School of Applied Social Science and
The Centre for Housing Research. The conference theme was Shrinking
Cities, Sprawling Suburbs, Changing Countrysides. The
conference addressed various issues relevant to this overarching
theme in both urban and rural locations. Plenary sessions
addressed current debates on topics such as balancing regional
development, urban and rural development, socio-spatial segregation,
new suburban communities, the role of immigration and tourism,
developments in post socialist societies, as well as issues which
are specific to rural areas.
